Managing Viber for a Business or Team: Business Account, Communities and Admins

By ADSSPEED Team · Published · Updated · 6 min read

Can several people run one Viber business account?

Not as separate users of the same account. According to Viber's Help Center (read 3 October 2026), a small business account can only be opened on your primary device, each phone number can have only one, and ownership cannot be transferred at the moment. A linked tablet or desktop can be used to talk to customers, but creating and editing happens on the phone, and the pages read describe no shared-login or multi-user setting.

What does support a team is the role system in Communities and Channels. The rest of this guide covers both, plus access, hand-over and Viber's larger business products. Use only accounts you own or are authorised to manage.

What the small business account is

There is no separate business login described: you open the account from the Viber app on your phone, under More, then Create business account.

QuestionWhat the Help Center says
Where is it created and edited? On the primary phone only; desktop and tablet can be used to chat with customers
How many per phone number?One
Can ownership be transferred? Not at the moment
What if the phone number changes?Personal and business accounts both move to the new number
Where is it available?Select countries only; accounts are country-specific
When is it searchable? After Viber's review, and once a business logo is uploaded
What if it is blocked? It cannot be deleted and is hidden from users; contact Viber if it followed the Terms. New business accounts cannot be opened after a blocked one

The Business Accounts Terms (last updated 16 August 2026) ask that a business account be used for business purposes, and the Fair Usage Policy limits it to micro and small businesses. The rules guide lists the details.

Roles in Communities and Channels

The Communities article for admins describes three roles: member, admin and superadmin. Whoever creates a Community becomes its superadmin, and contacts added at creation automatically become admins.

Task in a CommunityWho can do it
Change the name, icon, description or backgroundSuperadmins only
Promote an admin to superadmin, or demote an admin to memberSuperadmins only
Create or disable the invite link, switch member permissions on or offSuperadmins; admins can copy and share the link
Ban or remove membersAdmins and superadmins; removing or banning an admin takes a superadmin
Pin a messageAdmins and superadmins
Delete messagesAdmins and superadmins; an admin cannot delete another admin's messages, a superadmin can delete anyone's
Post under an aliasAdmins and superadmins

Channels follow the same logic. Only admins and superadmins can post, members cannot see one another, and only superadmins can change the name, icon, description and invite links or control which admins may write. Viber's articles show most of these tasks on both phone and desktop.

Setting up a team structure

  1. Create the Community or Channel from the phone or from the desktop (Compose, then Community or Channel). You become the superadmin.
  2. Add colleagues as admins. A superadmin can add someone directly as an admin even if they are not yet a member.
  3. Choose the voice. Admins can post under their default name, the Community's own name and icon, or a custom alias.
  4. Set permissions: who may write, send links and share the invite link.
  5. Promote a second superadmin you trust. The Help Center notes that if the only superadmin leaves without handing over, the Community is left with zero superadmins and one admin can then assign the role to themselves.

No shared logins: protect the number, the code and the PIN

Viber has no password to share. Access rests on the phone number, the SIM, the activation code and, if enabled, the 2-step verification PIN. The Help Center says Viber will never ask for an activation code in a chat, and that the PIN is required when activating Viber on another phone and when deactivating a desktop or tablet from the phone.

The Terms of Service make you responsible for everything done under your account. The Business Accounts Terms say a business may let only authorised individuals acting on its behalf use its business account, and that the business stays responsible for what happens under it. So give colleagues roles, not your phone, and never read out a code.

Off-boarding a team member

  • Remove their role. A superadmin demotes or removes an admin. Because a superadmin can in turn demote you, choose superadmins carefully.
  • Remove their computer. If they linked a computer to an account you own, deactivate it from the phone under More, Settings, Account, Desktop and tablets.
  • Change the PIN. It can be changed under Settings, Privacy, 2-step verification.
  • Plan ownership. A business account cannot be transferred and lives on one number, so register it on a number the organisation controls, not a staff member's personal one.

What if access is lost or the account is blocked?

  • The phone is lost or stolen. The Help Center says that if you lost your phone but still have the SIM card, you can install Viber on a new phone with the same number to deactivate Viber on the old one. The business account lives on that number, which is one more reason for the organisation to control the SIM.
  • The PIN is forgotten. Tap Forgot PIN for a reset email. Without access to that email you may be locked out, and five wrong PINs while setting up a new phone block activation for five days.
  • The business account is blocked. It cannot be deleted and is hidden from users. If it followed the Terms of Service, contact Viber; the Business Accounts Terms let Viber suspend or terminate access.
  • A Community has no superadmin. If the sole superadmin left, one admin can assign the role to themselves. After that, other admins can only become superadmin if the new one promotes them.

Bigger needs: chatbots, Business Messages and ads

Viber says that, as of 05.02.2024 (the date as its pages write it), chatbots are created on commercial terms: you apply through Viber's team or an official partner, and the Viber account used becomes the bot's admin. Viber's business site describes Business Messages as one-to-one conversations with existing customers through an API. For advertising, Viber Ads Manager is described as a self-serve platform for small and medium-sized advertisers and local agencies, and the Advertising Policy says each advertiser you manage must have a separate account. The wider client setup is in how agencies manage multiple client ad accounts.

Where ADSSPEED fits

ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles. It cannot change how Viber's roles, phone numbers or business accounts work, because those live in the Viber apps. It helps with browser-based work for several clients, such as web sign-ins for advertisers: each profile keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings, profiles can be opened, stopped and organised in bulk, and data stays on your own computer. Use it only with accounts you own or are authorised to manage. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with Viber.

Frequently asked questions

Can several people use one Viber business account?

The Help Center describes no shared-login or multi-user setting. A business account is created and edited on the primary phone, each phone number can have only one, and customers can be answered from a linked tablet or desktop. For teamwork it describes roles in Communities and Channels.

How do I log in to a Viber business account?

The Help Center describes no separate business login. You open the account from the Viber app on your phone under More, Create business account, and edit it there. A linked tablet or desktop can be used to chat with customers, and ownership cannot be transferred at the moment.

How do I sign up for a Viber business account?

On the primary phone, open Viber, tap More, then Create business account and follow the prompts. Small business accounts are only offered in select countries, and your account becomes searchable after Viber's review and once you upload a business logo.

What is the difference between a Viber admin and a superadmin?

A superadmin has the most control in a Community or Channel: they can promote and demote admins, change the name, icon and description, manage invite links and switch permissions. Admins moderate and post, and whoever creates the group becomes its superadmin automatically.

How do I remove an admin from a Viber Community?

Only superadmins can demote an admin to a regular member, and the Help Center lists the steps on the phone: open the Community, tap its name, tap the person, then Remove as admin. Superadmins can also remove admins from the Community.

Why was my Viber business account blocked?

The Help Center page gives no list of reasons. It says a blocked business account cannot be deleted and is hidden from users, and that if the account followed the Terms of Service you should contact Viber. The Business Accounts Terms let Viber suspend or terminate access.
