How to Keep Two Wattpad Accounts Apart on One PC With Browser Profiles
How do you keep two Wattpad accounts apart on one PC?
Give each account its own browser profile. Chrome Help says profiles keep bookmarks, history, passwords and other settings separate, and Chromium's documentation says a profile's folder holds its own history, bookmarks and cookies, so a Wattpad sign-in made in one profile does not appear in another. Chromium's design notes add that different windows can belong to different profiles at the same time. Wattpad lists Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Microsoft Edge as supported desktop browsers and no longer supports a Windows app, so on a PC you use the website.
What a profile separates, and what it does not
| Item | Kept apart by a profile? | Source or note |
|---|---|---|
| Wattpad sign-in and other cookies | Yes in Chrome | Chromium documentation lists cookies among a profile's data |
| Saved passwords, history, bookmarks, settings | Yes in Chrome | Chrome Help |
| Firefox containers: cookies, local storage, caches | Yes | Mozilla's wiki; saved passwords, history and bookmarks stay shared |
| Your computer and its internet connection | No | A profile is a data container; see what a browser profile is |
| Wattpad's rules | No | Each account follows the Terms; one active account per email |
Step by step: Chrome, Edge and Firefox
Chrome
- Open Chrome, click the profile icon at the top right and choose Add Chrome profile.
- Signing in to Chrome is optional. Choose a name, photo and colour scheme.
- In that profile's window, go to www.wattpad.com, click Log In and enter that account's email or username and password.
- Check that your username appears in the upper right corner before you do anything else.
- Repeat in a second profile for the second account. Switch between them from the profile icon.
Edge
- Click the profile icon in the upper right corner and select Set up a new profile.
- Choose Personal or Work or school, then either sign in to sync or start without your data.
- Select Confirm and start browsing. Microsoft says the new profile opens in a separate window.
- Log in to Wattpad there. Microsoft's page lists separate settings, bookmarks, extensions, themes and preferences but not cookies, so confirm that each window shows the account you expect.
Firefox
Install Mozilla's Multi-Account Containers add-on, make one container per account and open Wattpad in each container's tab. Mozilla says a container's cookies are not available to other containers. Its notes also say saved passwords, history and bookmarks are shared, so label saved logins clearly. Firefox also has separate profiles of its own; follow Mozilla's help for the steps in your version.
A five-minute check before you rely on the set-up
- Log in to account A in the first profile and to account B in the second.
- In each window, read the username in the upper right corner of www.wattpad.com. The two should differ.
- Choose Log Out from the username menu in one window and confirm the other window is still signed in. If both signed out, the two windows share one profile.
Naming, hand-over and backups
- Naming. Use the Wattpad username, which Wattpad says is public anyway, rather than the email address or any password hint. In Chrome you can rename a profile from Manage Chrome profiles, then the profile's More menu and Edit.
- Hand-over. A profile is a local container, not an ownership transfer, and the pages read describe no transfer feature. Handing an account to someone else means giving them the password and control of the linked email, which Wattpad calls the two pieces of security, and then changing both.
- Backups. Chromium's documentation puts a profile's history, bookmarks and cookies in its user data directory; on Windows the default for Chrome is
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data, andchrome://versionshows the exact Profile Path. That folder is browser data, not your stories. Wattpad recommends saving original works outside the platform and says it will not restore or transfer story content after a policy closure.
When plain profiles stop being enough
- Each profile is a window you open, close and name by hand, which becomes slow once you manage more than a handful.
- All profiles run on your PC's own internet connection.
- Wattpad has no supported Windows app, so a plain browser profile reaches the website only, not the iOS or Android apps.
What if something goes wrong?
| Problem | Cause according to the pages read | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Signed out in one profile only | Wattpad's troubleshooting has you clear cookies and log in again | Log in again; other profiles are unaffected |
| The Google or Facebook button picks the wrong account | Single sign-on uses the Google or Facebook account you choose, and creates a new Wattpad account if none is linked | Log in with email or username, or check the account offered before you click |
| A saved password is offered for the wrong account | Saved passwords are shared across Firefox containers | Label saved logins clearly, or do not save them |
| A profile was deleted by mistake | Chrome Help says removing a profile erases its saved data from the computer | Log in again, and keep manuscripts outside the profile |
| 'User not found' at login | Sign-in name or Gmail dots | See why Wattpad logs you out or says user not found |
Where ADSSPEED fits
Plain profiles work, but each one is managed by hand. ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles in one place. Each profile keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings; a proxy can be set per profile or assigned to many profiles in bulk; and profiles can be opened, stopped and organised in bulk. Profile data stays on your own computer. It also offers Android phone profiles, each with its own device configuration, for mobile apps on a PC. Use it only within Wattpad's rules; ADSSPEED is not affiliated with Wattpad. Setup is covered in installing ADSSPEED on Windows.
Frequently asked questions
How do I log in to Wattpad in Chrome with a separate profile?
Add a Chrome profile from the profile icon at the top right, name it after the account, then open www.wattpad.com in that profile and use Log In in the upper right corner. Repeat in a second profile for the second account, and switch from the profile icon.
Can you have multiple accounts on Wattpad on the same device?
Wattpad's pages set no number; the archived Terms encourage no more than one account and each email links to only one active account. On one PC, separate browser profiles keep the sign-in of each account you are allowed to hold apart, but every account stays under the same rules.
How do I have two Wattpad accounts signed in on one PC?
Give each account its own browser profile in Chrome or Edge, or use Mozilla's Multi-Account Containers add-on in Firefox. Each account needs its own linked email, because Wattpad links an email to only one active account.
What can I do about Wattpad login problems in a browser profile?
Wattpad's troubleshooting asks you to log out, clear cache and cookies and log in again, and explains how to clear only Wattpad's cookies. In a separate profile that affects only the account stored there. Deleting a Chrome profile erases its saved passwords and history.
Is there a Wattpad login download or Windows app?
Wattpad's device page says it no longer supports the Windows or Kindle apps and recommends the website at www.wattpad.com or its iOS and Android apps. Desktop browsers it lists as supported are Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Microsoft Edge.
