How to Keep Several VK Accounts Apart on One PC With Separate Browser Profiles
Can separate browser profiles keep my VK accounts apart on one PC?
Yes, as a browser feature. Chrome Help says a profile keeps bookmarks, history, passwords and other settings separate, and the Chromium documentation says each profile is its own folder holding data such as history, bookmarks and cookies. So the sign-in state of a VK account stays inside the profile where you created it. VK's own Help describes a quick-switch list: three accounts per device, not synchronised between devices (VK ID Help, read 3 October 2026). A profile per account is a separate arrangement outside that list, and VK's rules still apply to every account.
Use only accounts you own or are authorised to manage, and follow VK's rules.
What does a profile separate, and what does it leave shared?
| Item | Separate per profile? | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Cookies, including the VK sign-in | Yes | The Chromium documentation lists cookies among profile data |
| Bookmarks, history, saved passwords, settings | Yes | Stated in Chrome Help |
| Your internet connection and public address | No | Every profile on the PC uses the same connection |
| The computer itself | No | VK counts a new device among the changes that can bring a check |
| Firefox Containers | Cookies, localStorage, indexedDB and cache | Mozilla says history, bookmarks and saved passwords are not separated; containers are meant for several accounts on one site |
How do I set up one profile per VK account?
- In Chrome, click the Profile icon and choose Add Chrome profile. Pick a name, photo and colour.
- Name the profile after the account and its owner, not after the site (see the table below).
- In that profile, open VK and sign in to one account only.
- In your VK ID personal cabinet, turn on two-factor authentication. VK says backup codes are available under its sign-in options, a list of ten that each work once, so store them privately.
- To change profile, select the Profile icon at the top right and choose another one.
- Repeat for every account you own or are authorised to manage.
Microsoft Edge has its own profile feature and Firefox offers Containers, but menu names differ, so use each browser's help for the exact clicks. The steps above follow Chrome Help.
How should I name, hand over and back up profiles?
| Pattern | Example | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Brand, role, person | Brand A – support – Anna | Anyone can tell which account a window belongs to |
| One purpose per profile | Brand A – ad cabinet | Keeps ad cabinets apart from community work |
| Status in the name | Brand A – paused | Makes retired profiles easy to spot |
- Hand over responsibility, not the sign-in. Give a teammate a community role or an ad-cabinet access level instead; the business guide shows how. VK's security tips say never to pass on codes.
- When someone leaves. Sign out in that profile. Then, from your own sign-in, open Security, Devices and activity, Activity history and end all sessions except the current one. Finally delete the profile from Manage Chrome profiles, More, Delete.
- Backups. Chrome keeps each profile as a subfolder of its user data directory, which on Windows is under the local app data folder. That folder holds cookies, so a copy is as sensitive as a password. A restored copy may ask you to sign in again, because VK sessions can be ended from Devices and activity. Keep every account's recovery phone and email current rather than relying on a copy.
What does VK's own guidance add?
- Captcha. VK's help for a captcha that shows too often says to check that you are not in Incognito mode, that the VPN is off and that cookies are saved. A normal profile keeps its cookies. For the difference between a private window, a VPN and a profile, see browser profile, VPN and incognito compared.
- Sign-in checks. VK lists a new device, a new app or browser, a new place and a VPN as reasons for extra confirmation, and says that after you confirm, the same parameters need no further check. One profile per account, used from the same computer, keeps those parameters steady. VK does not promise that it will never ask; the guide to logouts and checks covers what to do when it does.
- Shared computers. After signing out of every account, click the cross beside an account so its sign-in details are not kept.
- Limits of the switch list. Three accounts per device, with no synchronisation, is why many teams reach for profiles; see the multiple accounts guide.
What if a profile keeps asking me to sign in?
- Cookies are being cleared. VK's captcha help says cookies must be saved. Check the browser's cookie settings and any cleanup tool that deletes them when the browser closes.
- You opened the wrong profile. Look at the Profile icon: the name shown there should be the one you gave the account.
- A session was ended. Someone may have used Devices and activity, or run a recovery with the tick box that signs out other devices. Sign in again and review the activity history.
- VK shows an extra check. That screen is VK's decision, not a profile fault; follow the steps in the section above.
- A restored backup is signed out. Sign in again, using a backup code if the phone number is unavailable.
When do ordinary profiles stop being enough?
A handful of accounts is manageable. With dozens, you open each profile by hand, nothing shows in one list who owns what, and starting or stopping them takes many clicks. The VK mobile app also cannot run inside a desktop browser profile. What a browser profile is explains the basics, and what an Android phone profile is covers the phone side.
Where ADSSPEED fits
ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles. Every profile keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings, and accounts you manage can stay signed in side by side without signing each other out. A proxy can be set per profile and assigned to many profiles in bulk, and profiles can be opened, stopped and organised in bulk. Profile data is kept on your own computer. For VK's mobile app, Android phone profiles each carry their own device configuration on a PC. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with VK. Setup is in install ADSSPEED on Windows.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a separate Chrome profile for each VK account?
Yes. Chrome Help says a profile keeps bookmarks, history, passwords and other settings separate, and the Chromium documentation lists cookies among profile data. Sign in to one VK account per profile and switch profiles from the Profile menu.
How do I add a Chrome profile for another VK account?
In Chrome click the Profile icon, choose Add Chrome profile, then pick a name, photo and colour. Open VK inside that profile and sign in to one account only. Switch later from the Profile icon at the top right.
What does a browser profile not separate?
It does not separate your internet connection or the computer itself, so every profile on the PC shares both. VK names a new device, a new place and a VPN among the changes that can bring an extra sign-in check.
Should I use Incognito for a second VK account?
VK's captcha help lists Incognito mode among the reasons a captcha may appear too often, because cookies are not kept. A normal profile that saves cookies fits that advice better than a private window.
How do I back up a browser profile that holds a VK sign-in?
Chrome stores each profile as a folder inside its user data directory, and the folder holds cookies, so treat any copy as being as sensitive as a password. A restored copy may still ask you to sign in, since VK sessions can be ended.
How do I hand a VK browser profile over when someone leaves?
Prefer roles and access rights over passing a sign-in. When a person leaves, end their sessions under Security, Devices and activity, then delete their profile from Manage Chrome profiles.
