Reddit Business Account: How Brands and Agencies Manage Accounts the Official Way

By ADSSPEED Team · Published · Updated · 6 min read

Is there a Reddit business account, and how does a team share access?

Not as a separate login type. The Help Center pages read on 3 October 2026 describe a regular Reddit account that a business can add Reddit Pro to, a free beta toolset for eligible businesses. Teammates can be invited to a Reddit Pro account with read-only access, a community team is organised with moderator permissions, and Reddit's security advice is not to share accounts. Everything below builds on those official pieces.

Reddit Pro in short

  • What it is. Tools to discover communities and conversations, understand where to contribute and measure content performance. Reddit says it is in beta, free for eligible businesses and organizations, and not a replacement for Reddit Ads or Reddit Premium.
  • Where it works. Desktop and mobile web, with the Trends tab also in the iOS and Android apps. Reddit lists it as available in English-speaking countries where it operates, so check the eligibility page for your case.
  • Rules still apply. Reddit Pro accounts follow the Reddit Rules and each community's rules. Reddit asks businesses to be transparent about which brand they represent, not to present the account as another brand's or a consumer's, not to try to unmask pseudonymous users, not to retaliate against criticism and not to offer incentives for positive comments.
  • Usernames. They are assigned at sign-up, and the Reddit Pro FAQ says changing one means creating a new account.
  • Verified profiles. Eligible Reddit Pro businesses can apply under Professional tools in account settings. The business name must match the display name, and Reddit says anyone claiming to sell verifications is not affiliated with it.

Roles and permissions in a brand-run community

Moderators run a community, and each can be given only the permissions needed. According to Reddit's Help Center (read 3 October 2026), these are the permission sets:

PermissionWhat it covers
EverythingAdd or remove moderators and edit the permissions of mods below you in the list
UsersBan and mute users, control access, edit the approved submitters list, add mod notes
ConfigCommunity settings, appearance, content controls and community rules
FlairAdd and edit user and post flair
MailAccess and answer mod mail
Posts & CommentsMod queues, removing and approving content, scheduled posts, highlights
WikiCreate, edit and view the wiki

Any moderator can see the community's insights and moderation log, even with no permissions. To invite someone:

  1. Open Mods & Members in your mod tools.
  2. Click Invite Mod at the top right.
  3. Enter their username and check the spelling.
  4. Choose the permissions they need and click Invite.

They receive a chat message and must accept before they join the list. You need the Everything permission to invite. You can also remove all permissions but keep someone on the list, or assign the Alumni or Advisor role.

Account security for a brand account

Reddit's compromise page lists the basics: a strong unique password, two-factor authentication, a password manager, a current verified email, no shared accounts, and no saved password or open session on shared devices. For a brand, that turns into a few habits:

  • Company-controlled email. Reddit uses the email to reset passwords and send security notices, and says it cannot help when the email is out of date.
  • Backup codes in the company vault. Reddit generates ten single-use codes, and they can only be created from Reddit in a computer's web browser.
  • One accountable owner per account. A named person, not a shared inbox, answers for the account and its recovery details.
  • Apps and tools. Reddit lists authorised apps you do not recognise as a compromise sign. If a tool posts for you automatically, read the Responsible Builder Policy, which says apps must register and that automated accounts are labelled as apps.
  • Authorisation. Reddit's Impersonation page counts offering deals in a business's name without authorisation as a violation, so agencies should hold written permission from the client.

Off-boarding when someone leaves

  1. Remove their moderator role or permissions in every community, from Mods & Members.
  2. Review the Manage users list in Reddit Pro.
  3. If they ever knew the password, reset it. Resetting logs the account out on all devices.
  4. Generate new backup codes, which replace the old ones. If their phone held the authenticator, disable two-factor and set it up again on a company device.
  5. Open the account activity page, review the IP history and end all active sessions.
  6. Check for authorised apps you do not recognise.
  7. Update the company's password manager entry and note the date.

If you cannot get access to a brand account

  • The authenticator left with an employee. Reddit lists backup codes, another logged-in device, a connected Google or Apple login and an app check. It describes no other route.
  • The email is out of date. Reddit says it cannot help.
  • The account is locked. Reset the password through the email on the account.
  • You suspect compromise. Submit a request and choose Security problems.
  • Who may operate the account. Reddit's User Agreement is the document to read, alongside a written agreement with the client.

Where ADSSPEED fits

ADSSPEED is a Windows and macOS desktop app built around many browser profiles. Each profile carries its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so the accounts a team manages can sit signed in beside each other without logging each other out. Proxies can be set per profile and applied to many profiles in bulk, profiles can be opened, stopped and organised in bulk, and profile data stays on the team's own computer. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with Reddit, and it does not replace Reddit's own roles, permissions or rules.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Reddit business account?

Not as a separate login type in the pages read. A business uses a regular Reddit account and can join Reddit Pro, a free beta toolset for eligible businesses and organizations. The sign-up needs a Reddit account with a verified email and a safe-for-work profile.

How do I sign up for a Reddit business account?

Go to redditforpros.com, select Sign Up and follow the on-screen steps. You need a Reddit account with a verified email and a safe-for-work profile, plus the business name, website and category. The business size is optional, and the category cannot be changed afterwards.

Can a company have a brand account on Reddit?

Yes, with transparency. Reddit asks businesses to be open about which brand they represent and treats posing as another brand or as a consumer as impersonation. Its Impersonation page lists creating a brand's official community to engage with redditors as not a violation.

Can I change my account name on Reddit?

Reddit's sign-up page says a username cannot be changed, and the Reddit Pro FAQ says changing it means creating a new account. For a brand, decide the username before sign-up, with the owner and the client or company agreeing on it.

How do I give my team access to a Reddit brand account?

Reddit documents two official routes: inviting teammates to a Reddit Pro account with read-only access, and inviting moderators to a community with chosen permissions. Its security page advises against sharing accounts, so a shared password is not one of the documented routes.
